SafeLawns and Landscapes – America’s Best Organic Lawn, Tree and Shrub Care Service!

'Going Organic' means first understanding how plants really grow in nature, and then fully supporting that natural growing system. We do this by promoting life in the soil with natural organic materials.

Chemically treated lawns are far from natural. In fact, chemicals practically eliminate all the biological life in the soil that natural plants require to grow and be healthy. When it comes to organic lawn care, it works quite differently.

Organic lawn care treats the soil while chemicals feed the plant directly.

Unlike chemical lawn care, we do not stop the lawn's natural ability to establish itself as a stable self-sustaining crop by using man-made chemicals that can be harmful to the environment. Rather, using organics, we support the natural growing process.

Grass and soil are interdependent dynamic living systems and should be treated as such. Each lawn we treat is a unique eco-system and at Safelawns we understand and respect this.

Exactly what we’ll need to do with your lawn, and how long it will take, will depend on how out of balance your soil is and how much chemical residue there is. However, there is no problem we can’t fix organically.

From weeds and insects, to grubs - even ticks and deer, we have the experience and expertise. It all starts with a soil test.

If you’re not testing you’re guessing!

The following will give you an outline of how we transition your property to organics making it beautiful, and most importantly, safer for you, your children, pets and the environment.

The 4 Easy Steps to a Safe Lawn

Step 1: Call Now for an Onsite Consultation and Comprehensive Soil Chemistry Analysis.
One of our SafeLawns Consultants will meet with you to discuss the history of your lawn and how the SafeLawns System can work for you. A soil sample will also be collected at this initial visit. “WE DON’T GUESS, WE TEST!”

All of our programs begin with a comprehensive soil chemistry analysis, which provides us with the blueprint of your soil. This proactive approach helps us understand exactly what your soil needs, so nothing is applied unnecessarily. Every soil is different, so why should they all be treated the same?

Step 2: Sign Up for Our SafeLawns Soil Health Program™
Every lawn requires a certain amount of nitrogen for proper growth and development. Healthy soils nourish the lawn with the necessary mineral and nutrients it requires. Lawns that have been treated with synthetic fertilizers and chemicals are often stripped of beneficial micro-organisms that nourish the turf plants.

Our SafeLawns Soil Health Program™ will revitalize and balance your soil for the needs of your grass plants - not pesky weeds, insects and diseases - eliminating the need for the use of toxic chemicals.

Each visit includes natural soil and foliar feeding with our exclusive SafeTea™- a living, liquid biological amendment, and our proprietary organic soil conditioners and root builders. In the spring and/or fall we will also apply our exclusive organic pre-emergent crab grass control.

The SafeLawns Soil Health Program™ is completed in 6 visits, from spring to fall, and is the foundation to the SafeLawns System™. Our fertilizers are derived from naturally occurring sources.

Step 3: Receive Your Customized Organic Solutions Program™
The foundation for a healthy, natural lawn begins with the soil. With the results of your soil chemistry analysis, we customize our SafeLawns Organic Solutions™ Program to meet the unique needs of your lawn. Although the requirements for proper turf grass growth and development is fairly consistent, every soil is different, therefore it must be addressed on an individual basis.

Your soil analysis will be used in determining whether your soil will need lime, additional organic matter, or any other nutrients to cure deficiencies. You will receive a copy of your soil analysis with our customized recommendations.

Step 4: Over-Seeding: Out with the Old, In with the New

"The infusion of new seed into existing turf is, in essence, an injection of youth into a natural aging process." - Paul Sachs

Over seeding is a regular part of an aggressive, natural, organic program.

Grass plants grow old with time, become weak, and often don't perform well. For tired lawns we offer a full line of seeding and renovation services to introduce new grass varieties that are more vigorous, insect and disease resistant, and well suited for your landscape environment.

Introducing new grass varieties can also speed up the transition from a chemically treated lawn to organic maintenance, leaving you with a lush green lawn, not dependent on chemical fertilizers.

For soils with excessive compaction, or in high traffic areas, we offer core aeration to introduce more air, water, and nutrients to the subsurface.

Safelawns Plant Management Services™

For all your other landscape needs we offer Plant Healthcare and Management Services.

** These services will vary depending on your geographical region.

Our trained environmental horticulturists maintain the beauty and splendor of your landscape plantings by employing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Methods. This approach involves examining your plants for insect pests, disease and cultural problems that could harm or reduce their aesthetic value and preventing or treating them throughout the growing season. This program is customized for your property and includes some or all of the following services:

Insect/Disease Inspections & Control - Our trained horticulturists will inspect your landscape throughout the growing season in a minimum of 4-6 visits.

Organic Deep Root Fertilization - In nature, trees and shrubs are fed through the decomposition of forest litter. This benefit is not provided by the home landscape. Our deep root fertilization provides a needed feeding with nutrients and organic soil conditioners, keeping plants healthy and helping them resist disease.

Organic Surface Bed Fertilization - Designed for ground covers and perennials, this granular humus works quickly to rebuild tired, depleted and over worked soils. The humus and minerals found in our soil conditioner supplies plants with everything they need to stay healthy.

Horticultural Oil Sprays for Ornamentals and Hemlocks - Many pest populations can be controlled when in their dormant stage, from late fall to early spring. We selectively apply dormant oil to your plant material which smothers and suffocates insects and/or eggs, reducing or eliminating the need for follow-up applications. It is highly effective against the devastating Hemlock Wooly Adelgid, an insect introduced from Asia that has been killing Eastern and Canadian Hemlocks along the eastern seaboard.

Winter Evergreen Protection - Winter desiccation can kill landscape plants if the plants do not have enough moisture stored in their leaves before winter. We apply non-toxic anti-desiccant overcoat that helps protect your broadleaf and evergreen shrubs from winter burn by slowing evaporation rates as much as 80%.

Deer Protection - Many homeowners face the challenge of discouraging deer from eating their valuable landscape plants. Our product is OMRI Certified Organic and contains 100% all natural ingredients, has no synthetic additives, is non-toxic and is safe for the environment and your family. It repels by emitting an odor that browsing animals associate with predator activity, causing them to avoid plants before they bite- not after!

Tick Control - 3 applications program. Our natural botanicals control and deter all growth stages of deer ticks. Ticks can transmit several human and animal disease pathogens including Lyme disease, human babesiosis, ehrlichiosis, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.

We apply our organic botanicals to your lawn and woodland edges to kill ticks around the home.

Trunk Injections - We use the Arborjet System to inject natural insecticides (botanicals), fungicides or nutrients into the vascular systems of trees or shrubs, where they move throughout the plant, treating from within.

Arborjet eliminates the need for external pressurized capsules, messy spraying, and damage to plants other injection methods can cause. Injection Systems
